De Chimay Grande Réserve Rum Editie 2025 heeft in de neus zachte tonen van vanille en eik die samensmelten met subtiele hints van rijpe banaan en zoete dadel. Een vleugje kruidigheid van kaneel voegt een verfijnde complexiteit toe aan het aroma waarin je ook een toets van appel ontdekt.
In de smaak onthult het bier een elegant samenspel van flavours. De rondheid van karamel en vanille wordt mooi in balans gebracht door een aanwezige houttoets en een subtiel bittere ondertoon. De zachte hint van geroosterde mout geeft complexiteit, terwijl de alcohol een warme en ronde afdronk creëert.
Het mondgevoel is vol en zacht, met een heerlijk verwarmende nasmaak van eikenhout en kruidigheid

37.5 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to almost black, no lasting yet brown head. Aroma is deep caramelish, wooden and overripe fruity. Mild sweet, raisin and dried fruit. Lingering caramelish to breadish and deep fruity. Medium sweet and roasted lasting malty finish.

375ml bottle, corked with a wire cage. Beer gift from Frau Eva. Shared at a rating session with Finn and Leif. A deep copper coloured body, off-white head leaving crocheted lacing on the glass. Attractive aromas of rum and mid-sweet brown malts. Rather intense taste of rum, oak and caramel malts added by a subdued yeasty bite. Long-lived finish, mid-dry, and warming. Clear mahogany colour, medium sized dense beige-ish ecru head; aroma and taste of dark chocolate, dried sour cherry, caramel, red wine-like, some ash, red berries and raisins soaked into alcohol; quite good one!

0.75l bottle many thanks to Lore. Dark brown body with a ruby hue and a beige head. Aroma of banana, oak, molasses, rum even a bit of cocoa. Taste of banana, ripe pears, sugar syrup, oak, rum, plums and a tiny bit of floral hops. Most of these oak aged Chimays are out of this world, this is not an exception.

Deep reddish brown with a tan head. Big candied dried fruits, dark berries, brown sugar, oak, a bit caramel, herbal. Medium to full body. It’s quite a nice beer. The rum doesn’t shine too strong but is slightly present.

Bottle at home shared by Joen. Red to red brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, nicely light sweetish, softly floral. Flavor is similar. Chimay with a light floral barrel hint. Quite alright.
