Bottle. Low carb, aroma is nice, malty. Taste is good, hoppy, quite sweet, bit of citrus. Nice. Pineapple cubes. Classic barley wine taste. Preferred this bonus bottle to the actual barrel reserve bottle.

Nice creamy orange pour. Orange’i nose, hops and sweet apples and some mango. Taste is smooth, fruity, cantaloupe orange. Strong sweet bitterness, dry bitter hoppy linger. Good stuff, something between barleywine and double IPA.

Bottle. Pine, some vegetables, caramel, orange in the nose. Cloudy-ass orange color with lace. Chalky flavor, pine, cedar, carmel. Not impressed.

33 cl bottle from an IP trade with TimE in Tokyo, thanks! Hazy orange color. Off white head with a thin layer retention. Aroma’s: lots of hops, resinous and piney, but also lots of malty sweetness, toffee, some sweet fruit. Retronasal: toffee, fruit, pine, resinous hops. Flavor is over moderate sweet, caramellish, with a decent bitterness. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Herbal hoppy finish, dry, moderate bitter. Pretty awesome brew.

Dirt brown color. Fairly oxides, hoppy nose with citrus notes. Very smooth, fairly oxidized mouth, modestly bitter. Very hoppy finish that is dry and feel over attenuated. Ok

Bottle straight from the brewery. AJB Double Hopped Barleywine 9% A matte copper color with a filmy beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet oranges while the taste is sharply bittersweet: Orange, pine, alcohol, peppercorns, earthiness. A bit too much heat but pretty nice.

Tap at Mikkeller and bottle shared. Big juicy pineapple and citrus nose. Really juicy bordering on sweet almost, but solid. Very well-balanced on the palate: good caramel malt backbone and the hop bitterness is there. Feels a tad heavy, but smooth and fairly easy drinking for the abv. Bitterness comes through on the finish with good malt sweetness. I know it’s being called a barley wine and the body is very barley wine-like, but for me this is an American DIPA. The dry hopping is well done. --- Beer merged from original tick of Double Hopped Barley Wine on 28 Apr 2016 at 21:39 - Score: 7. Original review text: Huge hoppy nose with pineapple and citrus.
