Tap at the Watering Hole. Dark brown, no head. Aroma is booze, roasty malt, bit of dark chocolate. Taste is similar, slick and thick, touch of coffee, choc sweetness. nice and drinkable. Creamy and roasty finish. Rerate: at Popeye. Aroma is more fruity this time but still very boozy. Maybe goes up a point as it seems to be a bit more rounded this time. And rerate again, this time at Server Land. Good, tasty, roasty, bit of cola, oaty. Taste is good, oats again, roast, chocolate, bit of smoke. Really nice.

On tap at Popeyes. Pours a pitch black hue with almost no head. A big malty nose, rich molasses. Very smooth, roast, some licorice, heavy dark fruit. Very good.

From tap (half pint) at Lodi, Higashi-Nakano. Black color. Dense off white to beige head. Aromaβs: roasted malts, mocha, berries. Retronasal itβs red fruit, roasted, coffee/mocha. Flavor is over moderate sweet, roasted, berries. Medium bodied. Finish is roasty, sweetish, light bitter. Maybe a tad bit too sweet, but I liked it.

Tap at Waseda Oktoberfest. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma has strong coffee roast malts, deep black bread maltiness. Tastes bit sourish, sweet and chocolate bitter. Would expect a bit more body from an Imperial Stout and maybe less sour notes. This one is not bad though, has a decent roast profile, chocolate and cocoa. Unfortunately also a bit watery.

Draft - Roasted malts and coffee, Jet black with a thin brown head. Roasted malts, black coffee and not nearly enough body to match. So big on flavor and light on palate just doesnβt do it for me.

8% at Bungalow on tap. A nice dark cola brown pour with a thick beige head. Weak chocolate aroma & smooth but thin body. The taste is well balanced between sweet syrupy chocolate & roast coffee bitterness but is more sweet by a hair. Decent.Β ----new, Dec 2013----- 8% Glass 950 yen at Aoi Beer Stand. A great black pour with a tan head with ridiculous staying power. Nice rich smooth chocolate+cocoa aroma. Medium to full bodied. The taste is chocolate, vanilla, roasted notes, cocoa paste, creamy. Really good stuff.---March 2014--- On tap at Molto, a really nice rich creamy chocolatey aroma. Dark black pour with a light beige head & good lacing. Nice med-full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. The taste is potent, a little boozy but with good chocolate, dark chocolate, fudge kind of flavors.

Draught at Q-Brick. Roasty nose, dry chocolate, coffee and mil, a bit of smoke and a touch of vegetables. Tangy flavor, orasty, some fruit, dark chocolate, coffee. Very flavorful and drinkable, with a dry, bitter finish. Like most in Japan, this is more a foreign Export than Imperial Stout. Damn good one, though.
