Tap at ’t IJ: Clear brown colored brew with an little sweet bitter taste, hints of smoke, caramel and some citrus.

Tap @ ’t IJ proeflokaal. Clear red-brown color. Uneven rocky off-white head. Aroma’s: smoke, smoked fish or meat. Retronasal also smoke, a bit sweet, light fruit, roast. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasty, light to moderate bitter. The smoke all but disappeared as soon as I started drinking this, its purely in the aroma. Medium bodied. Finishes with caramel, roast and eventually moderate to full bitter.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear amber-brown colour, off-white head. Aroma of subtle smoke, wood, caramel, some dark fruits. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, light smoky, fruity, caramel, bittersweet light leafy finish. Light to medium bodied. Decent stuff.
