Bottle at Vienna tasting February 2016. Many thanks! Ruby-brown colour. Quite clean fermentation-wise. There is lots of dark cherry in both aroma and flavour. The roasted malts are present, but in a very restrained, carefully balanced amount. Moderate sourness, but easy drinking with a full complex mouthfeel. Very good.

Draft at The Avenue Pub, New Orleans. Almost black with short-lasting tan head. Aroma of tart cherries and a bit of roasted malt. Sour, tart cherry dominates the flavor, with a bit of chocolate and roasted malt in the background. Sour, acidic finish. Expected more chocolate to balance the cherry, but still quite good.

On tap at Engine House No 9, pours black with a large tan head. Aroma brings out balsamic vinegar and dark tart cherries. Flavour is like black forest, with tart dark cherries and cocoa. Cohesive, with the fruity and chocolatey notes well balanced. Solid, but not my thing.

Draft - Dark cocoa. Jet black with a frothy light brown head. Dark chocolate and coco with some burnt notes and sweet sourness. Very odd.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours near black with a small head. Aroma is sour fruit and some smell that I can only call a bit of darkness. Taste is rather sour. Somewhat sweet. Aftertaste is lingering sourness. Cherry flavoir is certainly there in good measure. Interesting and nice.

Dark pour at Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont. Immediate sour cherry notes. Flavor was light roast, sour cherries. Interesting. Don’t really get the cake notes that the description imparts, but good if you’re looking for a mild tart oud bruin.
