Bottle from La Cave à Bières, Yverdon-les-Bains
Black color with generous compact head. Smooth beer, with elegant body, pronounced sourness, and a light bread and lemon touch. I don’t think of it as a "chocolate cherry cake", but just as an excellent, dynamic example of sour dark ale.

Capped 750 from Healthy Spirits. Pours dark ruddy brown with a tan head. Aroma is cheery over a dark sourishness. Med + body. Flavor is tart cherry, chocolate, dark malt, and arguably some hop. Finishes rather tart cherry.

Dark ruby/black color with small foam. Kriekish aroma for the start, just a little bit of chocolate behind there. Taste is cherries, tart, and again a little bit of chocolate. Really a Schwarzwälderkirsch beer. Very interesting!

On tap at The Partisan DC. Pours a oily deep brown with some spitty off white head. Nose is very intriguing, vinous notes hit you first, red grape, some malt vinegar, prune juice, some wood pulp, the roast follows with some toast, dark chocolate. Flavor is the same, there’s some malt sweetness but it’s balanced with some grape tartness, some apple cider vinegar, some wood pulp, a little licorice, some herbal liqueur. Tart, thick finish. Perfect digestif.

Tap at Max’s. Not much carbonation. Kind of thin bodied Black Ale. Nice balancing cherry notes. Mellow UK cask feel. Easy going. Black chocolate and cherry combination is nice.
