This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a mostly dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about thirty seconds leaving some light stringy lacing sliding here and there.
The smell had some light sweet prune, light roasty nuts and sweet brown sugar with a light breadiness.
The taste was mainly sweet malty taking the roasty nutty part to lighten a bit. A light sweet prune aftertaste is there that lead to a semi - sweet / dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was pretty mild and light. I get it, it’s okay even if past it’s due date a bit.
Overall, though I had it past it’s prime, I’d say it’s still worthy of having again. And would definitely welcome fresher next time.

Draught @ Albion. Brown with a reddish tint, small off-white foamy head that dissipated fast, leaving a ring behind. Slight caramel aroma, high carbonation, caramel-mocha taste, rather abrupt finish. Quite an enjoyable ale!

Really just tastes like an average brown, with an OK barley profile. Finishes with light bitterness. Some roast. Pours brown with OK head and lacing. Bottle.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, 2013 bottling. Pours lightly hazy deep ruby brown color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, prune, fig, caramel, toast, molasses, biscuit, brown bread, herbal, light chocolate, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of raisin, plum, prune, apple, caramel, toast, biscuit, brown bread, molasses, light nuttiness, light chocolate, herbal, and toasted earthiness. No bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, prune, apple, caramel, molasses, toast, biscuit, brown bread, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; with great robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice english brown ale. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt and fruity yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Dunkelbraun-rote Farbe, neutral-malziger Geruch. Der Antrunk ist malzig-süßlich-sauer, etwas laff. Zum Hauptteil wird die malzig-säuerliche Note deutlicher, sehr wässrig-enttäuschend. Der Nachgeschmack ist recht aromenflach, leicht malzig-trocken, ganz leicht süßlich.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a lovely mahogany red-brown and is topped by a smallcramy beige head. Aroma is lightly roasted malt with a touch of burnt caramel. Flavor is more roasted malt, dark sweet caramel or molasses. A touch sulphury, with some dark fruit (currants). Overall, I think they missed the mark here. This should have been a slightly higher gravity brew that would yield more alcohol and offer a more warming feel.

Sold as "Winter Warmer". Dark ruby color, small beige head. Caramel and perhaps hints of licorice too. Medium-bodied. Very caramelly with some alcohol. Somewhat English feeling. Decent.
