Bottled. Huge and somewhat foul coffee nose, seems they miss-did the boil. Even smells a bit like chili pepper. Pus cocoa. Flavor is much nicer. Huge coffee, but without the sour harshness of the nose, plus some chocolate and chili. I’m not such a big fan.

Bottle served in a snifter, shared at Tadg’s. Surprisingly some chili in the nose & flavor though no chili is used in the beer. A reddish brown pour, the taste mild chili with more of a bitter coffee beans flavor. A pretty average coffee beer, Surly Coffee Bender & Beer Geek Brunch Weasel are quite a bit better.

Bottle thanks to Bruce at the Pre-Zwanze. It pours near black with a medium light tan head. The nose is roasty, cocoa, toast, chocolate, rich coffee and some spice. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, toasty, decent bitterness and some spice towards the finish. Medium+body, average carbonation and velvety mouth-feel. Pretty damn tasty, delicious even!

Strong coffee infusion here. Lots of roast, dark chocolate. Pours with decent head and lacing, pitch black. Coffee bitter aftertaste with residual bitterness. Average carbonation, consistency a bit syrupy. Bottle from Smoke it Here.

Got 12 oz. bottle in a trade with Queenholly. Thanks so much! As soon as I poured this stout into an English pint, I could smell rich organic coffee grinds. The aroma makes me think I could drink this for breakfast. Flavor has light sweetness, coffee, roasted grain and cocoa powder. Ends on the bitter side with some strong coffee notes. The body is slightly thin but it doesn’t matter. The coffee lingers on well after the sip. Mildy smooth texture with light carbonation. This is a nicely executed coffee stout. You got to be a coffee lover to really appreciate this stout.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, bottled on 9/10/2012. Pours lightly hazy extremely dark brown color with a nice 1-2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big roasted coffee beans, espresso, dark chocolate, roasted malt, light char, caramel, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with big coffee presence and nice background malt balance. Taste of big roasted coffee, dark chocolate, espresso, roasted malt, light char, toffee, caramel, and light herbal hops. Light coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, light char, caramel, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Nice flavor balance and complexity with plenty of coffee flavor; very nice malt/bitterness balance; zero cloying flavors noticed after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent coffee stout! Plenty of coffee flavor with nice malt flavor balance; very smooth to drink. Really enjoyable offering.

Bottle at Kasey’s Tavern, Chicago - 03/11/12. Pitch black with a thin dirty coffee coloured head that soon clears to the edge. Big Java coffee nose, roast malts, touch of bitter dark chocolate, mineral tones. Big Java coffee kick hits you straight away in the taste, this is followed up by bitter roast malt, very dark chocolate and molasses. Fuller end of medium bodied with fine carbonation leading to a roasty coffee finish. Great coffee stout!

Bottled@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Deep reddish brown colour with a mediumsized beige head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is mild roasted malts, coffee, some slight nutty notes as well as chocolate and mild ripe fruits. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, some coffee and toffee with quite a big bitterness kicking in in the finish.
