Our Trippel has always been a big, beautiful Belgian-style ale, but in 2015, we tweaked the recipe to include a new yeast variety and even more complex malt profile. This golden beer opens with a bold blast of spicy Noble hops, courtesy of Saaz and Hallertau Mittlefruh, and gives way to the fruity aromas offered by our traditional Belgian yeast. Brewed with Pilsner and Munich malts, Trippel is classically smooth and complex, and sings with a high-note of sweet citrus before a pleasantly dry finish delivers a warm, strong boozy bite. Give Trippel a sip to get you smiling.

draft at the brewery - Pours gold with a long lasting head that leaves a heavy lace. The aroma is all citrus and yeast. The flavor is fairly sweet with a touch of hops in the finish. Medium bodied and smooth, it’s an enjoyable tripel though not an outstanding one.

Bottle. Pours an orange golden color with a large frothy white head. The aroma is banana, clove, and light citrus. Very good lacing on the glass. The taste is a sour fruit with a bitter finish. A good Abbey Tripel from New Belgium.

On tap at The Front Door Boise. Pours out a light gold topped with a foam white head. Aroma of belg yeast and a touch of sweetness. Tast of light fruit and a little more yeast.

Aroma is moderately malty with moderate orange citrus hops and other fruits. Pour yields a creamy white head with a sparkling medium yellow body. Taste is very flowery with a nice (but smooth) hop backbone with a touch of honey in the mouth. Very nice tasting.

Bottle. Clear golden pour with a big white head. Lots of fruit in the aroma, apples and citrus. Nice combo of malt and yeast in a medium body. Nice trippel, though nothing special.

Aroma of yeasty bread and citrusy spice. Deep golden color with a white head that laces lightly. Starts with biscuity carbonation, backed with peppery spice, and some yeasty malt. It’s very smooth, and not too sweet. The alcohol impact is noticeable, but I don’t think it affects flavor, just warms. Seems to be a bit of vanilla in the long finish. Floral hop seems to be ever present, but the other flavors and aromas tend to overpower it.

Appealing gold colour, thin lasting head. Aroma of banana, without being overwhelming. Sweetish flavour without being cloying, with a malty bite. Very soothing and smooth. It seems lower in alcohol than it is.

Bottle, Nose is yeasty, citrusy, applely, with a little spiciness; color is gold with a small white head; flavor is light malt and sweet with a bit of spiciness lasting into the finish, along with a little touch of alcohol.

A disappointment mainly because I was expecting better from New Belgium. The flavor was clove spicy to start, but quickly yielded to an artificial plastic taste. Average frothy head atop a golden body. Diminishes quickly. Aroma of flowers, clove, peach, plums. But the aroma seemed somewhat muted.Thin to medium body with a thin texture and average carbonation. Peppery, alcohol finish. Mediocre.
