Apples: Ashmead’s Kernel, Harrison and Black Twig (all American)
Time & Place: Virginia 2020 Harvest
Heavy rains could have led to less mature fruit, but the sloped terrain of SCSO drains very well and we once again got very mature and intense flavors from the 2020 harvest of their cider fruits
Orchards: Silver Creek & Seaman’s Orchards
Wild Ferment in Wood Casks
Aroma: Ripe sour fruits
Flavor: Tart lychee and candied ginger
Pairing: Charred ribeye, seared mackerel, pecan pie

Four pack from Appalachian. Wine glass @home. More murky/dusty than hazy, yellow gold. Bubbly enough I guess. Melon, perfume-y apples, pickles, plastic. Wild ferment, duh. Taste is cantaloupe-y & sour. Mellow apple skin, old wood, pear sweetness, lime bitterness, black pepper, typical Sidra earth funk & plastic, vinegar sharpness, dry popsicle finish though it was just a pinch sweet overall. Itchy, well carbed, boozy enough, obvious sulfites, bold. Rather drink this than any more Sidra honestly.
