The USS Blue, a Bagley-class destroyer launched in 1937, was the flagship of Destroyer Division 7 and in service throughout WW2. After a rather innocuous beginning to her service career, in 1940 Blue would sail for the Pacific and her date with destiny. In the early morning hours of December 7th, 1941 the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor caught Blue in port, unguarded, and nearly crewless. Amazingly, Blue was able to escape the harbor unscathed (with only 4 ensigns on board) and survive the battle undamaged. Here, "Blue" is used to reference the boatload of blueberries present in this brew. We used Sourvisiae yeast to produce a clean, bright, lactic acid character and balanced that by using blueberries to leave just enough residual sweetness. The result is a tart but pleasantly fruited sour that harbors tons of flavor and pours a gorgeous vivid magenta in color. This limited beer won't be in port long, so be sure to escape down to our taproom while these kegs are in service.
