Our friends over at Kentucky’s own Willett Distillery have one kind of barrel: wood. And they put two things in them: Bourbon and Rye. We were fortunate enough to get some of their Bourbon barrels, and we put a special coffee-fied version of our Imperial Stout in them.

Bottle - had a few bottles of this and I thought it was decent - then, after seeing a post from joet on Facebook suggesting to drink it hot, I gave it a shot - I’ll admit it’s an improvement, but it’s still not exceptional - I tried a similar process with a Boulevard Brandy Land last night and found it more enjoyable - the booziness is reduced (cold the rye in dominant) and the malt and coffee are a lot more prominent, giving it a bit more depth - some cherry and dark chocolate develop - finish is still pretty hot - body is still a bit thin for the strength - it’s decent - I think cold it would get a 3.5.

12oz from Heather_B. Thanks! dark-ish? huge overflowing like as in the pour just oozed over the glass so it's over-carbed. nitro coffee, creamy , dry chocolate, unsweet. nitro carb, unsweet fudge with espresso. burnt wood.

12 ounce bottle. 2019 vintage is aged in Rye oak barrels and comes in at 12.4% ABV. Dense black brown pour. Thick creamy tan head. Roasted malt nose hints at coffee and oak. Bold roasted malt flavor upfront. Notes of coffee, whiskey, treacle and licorice. Wonderfully complex and layered. Warming alcohol is subtle as it flows down your throat. Best sipped slowly to appreciate the subtle complexity of this brew.

Bottle from Holiday Market. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of brown head that dissipates. Peppery rye and grainy husk aromas with big coffee and toasted brownie malt aromas. Some alcohol in the nose, but not overbearing. Just right. Medium body on the palate with good rye flavors, husk and more brownie and pepper notes. Oak and light toasted vanilla on the finish with whisky and chocolate. Another great batch of this classic.

Bottle thanks to Joe. Pours a very dark brown with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, oak, rye, dark chocolate. Slick body, roasted malt, cocoa, oak, licorice, raisin, rye, boozy finish but not overpowering, enjoyed this.

Draft. A- Chocolate, mild soy sauce, oak, booze. A- Black color, black liquid, light brown head. T- Mild soy sauce, oak, whisky, cocoa, slightly roasty. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly boozy finish. O- I figured this would be good but it turned out to be great. Reminds me a lot of Bourbon County Stout. Outstanding mesh of flavors and very smooth. This is dangerously drinkable.

Sampled on draft at Tapped this beer poured a black color with a small foamy brown head that left great lacing. The aroma was whiskey, chocolate and coffee. The flavor was whiskey, chocolate, coffee, vanilla creamy and a boozy presence that worked well. Long finish. Full bodied and smooth.
