Draft at Salud beer shop. Dark brown color light brown head. Whiskey is subtle in the aroma but massive in the taste with rye spice and roast. Survivable.

Bottle from Greg, thanks for the opportunity! Almost black in color with dark claret at the edges and a good sized long lasting frothy tan head. Spicy woody character with sweet chocolate licorice and roast. Lots of creamed coffee aroma and flavor. Bits of brown sugar and alcohol at the fringes. Chocolate roasty fruity flavor with a restrained sweetness. Spicy earthy woody vanilla from the barrel. Very nice sipper.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/29/2017. Pours dense opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Touch of booze in the aromas as it warmed, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and rye whiskey barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, and dark bread; with lighter notes of coconut, licorice, molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness. Mild roast/char bitterness and rye whiskey/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, marshmallow, vanilla, spicy rye whiskey, toasted oak, dark bread, light molasses/smoke/char, and roast/toast/oaky earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and rye whiskey barrel flavors; with an awesome roasted bitter/sweet and rye/oak spiciness balance; with zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Slight slickness, stickiness, chalky roast, whiskey/oak tannins, and increasing dryness. Lightly increasing warmth of 12.6%, with a touch of barrel booze lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic BA imperial coffee stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, and rye whiskey barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV with the mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Amazing balance of rich malts and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with amazing barrel integration. Not overly boozy/drying. A highly enjoyable offering as expected. Better with age to soften the bitterness/tannins, and becomes much more silky on feel.

Sample at the 6th Annual Craft Beer Festival by The Community Tap on 04/21/2018. Brown-black color with a medium thick light brown head recedes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing. Bourbon, malt, coffee and vanilla aroma. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, charred malt, coffee and vanilla. The finish is oaky with a coffee and bourbon aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Pours deep brown into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention recedes to pancake surface. Dark pit fruit, chocolate and whiskey aromas. Thick with hot buttered bourbon, dark pumpernickel and chocolate covered dried pit fruit upfront turning to mildl coffee and ouzo in the lasting spicy finish.
