Irish Red Ale, barrel finished for 18 weeks in Cognac barrels.
Deep red colours provide an elegant appearance, while a firm foam head arises to the top of the glass. Dominant aromas of cognac a light hints of vanilla set the tone, whereafter a slightlybitter notes take you by the hand until they give way to generous notes of vanilla and cognac. In the end, smooth tones of cognac dominate the slightly dry aftertaste, which lingers pleasantly.

Bottle shared with Laura and Joen. Amber color, full sized yet quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, very weird flavor and aroma and in no way cognac flavors. Very weird. Seems like a totally different barrel. Very weird. Not very good at all. Sad, I hadn't tried an Emelisse beer for years and thought let's give it a try again, but I'm definitely staying away from now on. Bad.

Bottle. Color: Clear copper, thin beige head. Aroma: Fruity Cognac and caramel malt notes. Taste: Caramel malt, subtle floral and citrus notes, light to moderate bitter hoppy backbone, well balanced with fruity Cognac, vanilla and wood notes. Boozy hints. Moderate to over moderate sweet. Just over medium, lightly creamy, body. Below average carbonation. I'm not a fan of Emelisse beers over the last years, but this one is pretty nice.
