Made in collaboration with our friends at Burial Beer Company in Asheville, NC, Chêne des Fous (shen de-FOO), meaning “Oak of the Fools,” is a blend of sour triple ales aged for up to 18 months in French oak barrels with dried sumac, fresh apricots and toasted American oak chains. Intense oak flavors are met with savory lemon and dried fruit notes from the sumac and a subtle stone fruit aroma.

Bottle, 375 ml shared with JFK10000, Max and Miro. Hazy orange, medium white head. Fruity, apricots, lemon, bit citric, oak, spicy, juicy. Medium sourness. Medium bodied. Nice spicy twist from sumac.

500 c&c from HI-Time. Pours translucent orange-tinged gold with a slight white head. Aroma of apricots and some sort of spice. Med body. Flavor is fruit/tart with some sort of spice and non-musty wood astringency. Very dry. Mostly tart, but a touch of bitter. Fruit is the word.

On tap at Cascade, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is very acidic, with lots of apricots, lots of acidity, and oak. Flavour is very intensely acidic, with tons of apricot upfront, followed by oak, and more acidity. Really? This is enamel-strippingly acidic. It's good, but not an elegant beer.

Draft at Brawley's Beverage. Cloudy orange color solid white head. Aroma of stonefruit and tannins. Taste is tart tannic stonefruit dry finish. Tasty if you like tart more than sour
