The story of Black Bess, the legendary horse of the infamous highwayman, Dick Turpin, is one of speed, endurance, and unwavering loyalty. According to popular tales, Black Bess carried Turpin on an epic overnight ride from London to York, helping him to evade capture by the authorities. Black Bess’s strength and stamina became legendary, embodying both power and grace, qualities which made her an icon of resilience and adventure.

Much like the Clavell & Hind Black Bess; a rich, creamy stout that delivers a ride of its own – bold, smooth, and full of character. Just as the horse’s endurance carried Turpin through the night, our stout’s deep, velvety texture lingers with each sip, offering a journey through layers of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee notes. Whether facing the open road or a quiet evening, both Black Bess and our fine stout promise a bold and unforgettable experience.
