Everyone likes an IPA and especially a rye IPA!

For our 11th experiment, we decide to breath some excitement into this popular style, by adding Sencha tea. Sencha tea is green tea with a unique pine-like flavour that perfectly complements the earthy notes of the rye, and the floral, citrus aroma of the New World hops.

Sencha also changes the bitterness profile, making this a unique IPA. But that's not all the tea does: If you observe closely, you may notice a slight green tint on the foam!

Special bronze top edition. Bronze bottle cap and extra sticker over the label. Brettanomyces Bruxellensis yeast. Brewed 2021.

Another experiment from MishMash. Sencha Rye IPA with ordinary yeast and the same beer fermented with Brett yeast. Drinking them side by side. Color: Both lightly hazy amber, off-white head. Aroma: Ordinary yeast: Hoppy and malty at the same time, subtle caramel and citrus fruit. Brett yeast: Brett funk dominates. Taste: Ordinary yeast: Clearly present green tea, malty base, caramel notes, pine hints, subtle citrus fruit. Medium body, below average carbonation. Bittery tea-like finish. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitterness. Brett yeast: Also clearly present green tea, this time fighting with the funky Brett for the win. Some citrus fruit and caramel. A little less tea-like finish. Both likeable in their own way. Although I am a Brett lover, this time I don't have preference for the Brett edition. Brett is taking away some of the fruity fresness of the ordinary edition.

Final verdict: Ordinary yeast 7 7.5 7 6 7 = 7.0 Brett yeast 7 7.5 7 6 7 = 7.0
