Ormside Hall, Great Ormside, Appleby-in-Westmorland, CA16 6EJ, England
Description
Orm’s Brewhouse is a 5BBL microbrewery and distillery housed within Ormside Hall, a 14th-century farmstead crowned by a medieval pele tower. Just 50 metres away rests the grave of a Viking named Orm—buried with his sword and the ornate Ormside Bowl—beside Cumbria’s oldest church.
Øl means ale in Old Norse. All our beers, Orm’s Øl, honour that heritage in name, flavour, and spirit.
Founded in 2025 but backed by years of artisan distilling with Spirit of Swaledale, we’ve brought our love of beer to life. Ormside gives us the freedom to brew boldly—full of tradition, flavour, and a touch of science.
We’re fussy. We think the beer proves it.
