Description
The legendary Green Man has existed for centuries but it’s no myth that he’s been brewing great beer in Asheville since 1997. As one of North Carolina’s original breweries, Green Man has been producing some of the beer scene’s most iconic ales. Our offerings are consistently recognized for quality as well as loyalty to traditional English styles. Additionally, our brewers strive to bring innovative and exciting new flavors to beer loving folks.

Now open! Continuing our evolution we have constructed a 3 story, 20,000 square ft., packaging hall, a “brewtique”, and an indoor/outdoor top floor taproom that overlooks production and the Blue Ridge Mountains! It is right here on the South Slope, next to “Dirty Jack’s” (which is still open) and our production brewery.

Bottle stamped Enjoy by 04/15/20 so assumed ~ 4 months old A: Poured a small head over a bright pale orange body. Head fell to a lasting ring. S: Malty scent of toffee with light pine and orange. T: Woody malt and bitter piney hops at once. Faint citrus pith and biscuit kick in later. Crisp and well balanced; less sweet than expected. M: Medium body with average to stiff carbonation and dry-ish finish. O: Good malt flavors although they overwhelm the hops. it is English though and not all too fresh. Overall well balanced and fairly tasty.

Tasty semi-hazed IPA, with loads of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, and earth, with a moderate grainy sweetness on the back end mixed with pine and earth. Lovely pint.

Muddled and yeasty, with a load of white bread forming a lemon-tinged base, while the front presents moderate melon and lemon zest from the hops and a slight cracker malt undertone. Interesting, but the farmhouse side never asserts itself, and the dominant flavor is yeast. Skippable.

Power tasting at Salesforce, bottle; should be vintage 2017, 2 years old
Dark brown colour, near black. It has a nice nutty, maple, bourbon character; sweet without being cloying, also because it has a quite strong roasted malt character; the alcohol is well hidden.
Very good, I don't get special vibes though.

Bottle stamped Enjoy bu 11/19/19 so no fucking clue how old it is. I'll assume it was brewed ~ 8/19 so 3 months. Batch Stamp 2254 so also assuming this is the 2nd batch although Batch 1 was numbered 2212. From website: Batch No. 2212 - Coming Soon - Batch 2 A: Light gold with a short white head that fell quickly to a thick ring. S: Citrus, pine and vegetal notes with a green wood background. T: Bitter and citrusy hop notes of mainly grapefruit and lemon pulp and pith. Pine noticed further in with that woody note from the nose. Tastes like the description of Batch #2. M: Light body, prickly carbonation and a pine resinous rough finish. O: I like it quite a bit but I'd appreciate a more straightforward batching/dating convention. I'd buy again.

750mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon barrels, but some of the cheap JD is noticeable, with gentle roast, and vanilla. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of JD barrels, followed by vanilla, and a little cocoa. The JD is rather cheap tasting, imparting an almost tart character. It's decent.

Dark brown. There's a lot of bourbon on the nose, along with chocolate. Big and burly. On the palate, it's quite bourbony, maybe some dry woodiness. Big strong, a bit boozy and just a lot of bourbon to go with this chocolatey stuff. Tasty but not refined.
