12 ounce can from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear medium golden color with a thin head. Fair head retention and poor lacing. Fairly straightforward toasted malt aroma with a faint grassy finish. The taste is grassy with some apple like fruit notes and faint malts in the finish. Thin bodied. Not bad for a macro lager.

bottle - Pours clear yellow and has a sugary, corn aroma. The flavor is mild, sweet, and sugary and that’s about it for this light bodied brew. The label bills it as "100% grain". I wondered how that’s a bragging point. I would hope no commercial brewer is using malt extract, so if by 100% grain they mean no extract, I thought, well duh. They don’t claim to be all malt. Grain could include additives like corn and rice. I suspect corn in this one. Anyway, this beer sucks.

on tap @Philly BeerFest III–pours an off white head and amber color. Aroma is light/medium malt. Taste is sweet light/medium malt, some fruity esters.

Definitely the finest beer made by this brewer, although that is surely faint praise. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-amber color with a large yellow-white head. The aroma was sweetish caramel with a touch of molasses and cherry. The flavor is initially bitter, tangy and lightly toasty - then where the middle is supposed to be the whole flavor falls right off a cliff to water. No middle. No depth. There is a short vague sour finish and that is it. Water, water everywhere...

Bottle. Oh, so pale of a gold, yet it has a decent, fluffy head. Aromas are thick with Beck’s like skunky hops and a mild ammount of grass. Flavor is a nice blend from skunk to soap to corn-like malt for a nice adjunct aftertaste.

Bottle. For a dark beer, this pours extremely light... a coppery color with a really big and puffy tan head. Aromas are weak and sweet. Flavor is really weak.... sweet and roasted corn with a bit of a honey finish and no plot development. I was hoping that Straubs would come up with something worthwhile for this.

Nice clean beer aroma. Pale yellow but constant streams of carbonation rise within. Best fizzy palate. Rather refreshing and friendly. Overall, nice session brew.

Thank you zebracakes for the chance to taste this! An american dark lager? No way, this is a pale lager or a premium lager. Not dark enough to be called dark. Grainy sweet aroma. Not alky olfactory even tho it is pretty sweet smelling. Looks like light iced tea, very light.Nicely bubbly. Is not anywhere near flat. Hay and not like any other dark lager. Certainly more like an APA of sorts. Just a plain old good local beer.

New rating: Just had this at the eternal tap, wow, such a big difference yummy straw flavors all the way. Mild an friendly. Simply lovely! Old rating: Nice, big-looken 12 oz green bottle with a twist off cap. 0717060 Men, twist off that cap……...If it was possible, a good skunk aroma. In the pour from bottle to glass, the smell goes from veggie cabbage to clean bread dough. The aroma can be characterized as almost wheat~like! Nice fizz show inside the brew, its hypnotizing. Taste is pretty refreshing without any observable offenses. Finish has no drawbacks, very repeatable and friendly. Nice local micro/macro brew. . Love that Pennsylvania mountain spring water. Did you ever bathe in it? I was disappointed that there was no sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Straub should do an unfiltered version.
