Review according to BJCP2015 guidelines (style 26D). Bottle 33 cl, Batch n. 042-017 (BBF 2018-12). AROMA: medium peppery alcohol notes with a medium-low caramelized and maillard malt background. no esters detected. APPEARANCE: dark amber color with ruby body against light. clear. medium tanned head with good retention. no lace formation. TASTE: medium-high yeast flavor, followed by medium-low caramelized malt background. medium bitterness with a dry finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. slight but noticeable alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a dark strong ale with some style notes but with too much yeast presence (uncooked bread). no esters detected, so it would be great with the proper yeast detection.

Bottle at The Craft Clerkenwell. I don’t think it’s that sweet. Quite dry on the finish. Decent dry toast stout. Some fruit.

Bottle shared at Craft Clerko. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, roast, milk chocolate, lactose, coffee and toast. The taste is roasted malt, earth, dull tang, faint spice, dark fruits and coffee with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Touch if tang, bit not bad.

Bottle shared at Yespr’s. It pours cloudy pale orange with a small white head. The nose is orange peel, candied fruits, bread, raisin and sherbet. The taste is candied peel, pear drops, apple, light bitterness, toasty, hay, candy, melon and a bit of alcohol sting. Medium body and prickly carbonation. Odd. More of tripel than a dubbel (sort of). So-so.
