Description
One of Louisiana's largest independently owned craft breweries in the Irish Channel of New Orleans. We provide eight year-round beers and three seasonals and dapple in lagniappe & offbeat beers, while keeping things funky with wild and sour ales.

At the brewery: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is mostly barrel and malt; the smoke does not powerfully manifest itself itself in either the aroma or the taste. The taste is similarly whiskey, vanilla, and wood. I was hoping for more smoke, but I think it was overwhelmed by the aging process.

At the source: pours golden with wee head. Aroma is light but is vaguely herbal. Taste is mostly grainy blonde ale without much crab seasoning that I could identify. Probably one of the less impressive beers from these capable brewers.

Markeyβs, New Orleans tap: Pours light golden with white head. Aroma is pale malts, a hint of hops, some dough. Taste is much as would be expected. It was really mild, but had a nice and creamy texture to it that contributed to easy drinking. Not bad.

Markeyβs, New Orleans tap: This was the first beer that I had in this fine city. It poured a more golden color with a white head. Aroma was notes of citrus and pine. It was not very extreme or brutal. Rather it had moderate hoppiness and comparatively low bitterness. Nice citrus and fruity notes. Not bad.

GABF 2014. Hazy, gold/yellow color; opaque really. Aroma of yeast, and from the aroma you know it is going to be sour. Moderately sour flavor, and I might taste just a little fruit, peach or apricot. Good.
