Description
Driving on a dark stretch of two lane road, the Marquess family headed into the final stretch of their journey home. Pondering how to better live their creed of 'finding joy in the adventure,' they came up with a plan to join their passions of craft beer, travel, Arizona and the enjoyment of life. Founded, was Mother Road Brewing Company.
The Mother Road was the moniker given to U.S. Highway 66 by Grapes of Wrath author John Steinbeck, as he shared the story of the fictional Joad family, who traveled the road in hopes of trading desperation and heartache for hope and new beginnings. The Mother Road Brewery now resides along a lost portion of the storied highway, symbolizing both the journey we’ve made and our passion for craft beer, motoring and history.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-copper body. Thin, oily off-white head. Not that impressive of an aroma...some caramel, mild fuggle-like hops. Soapy and earthy, with a caramel malt backdrop. Not impressive at all, tastes like a 90s brewpub APA. Pretty weak overall.

Bottle. Grass, honey and malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Lightly sweet barley malt and mildly bitter herbal grass flavor. Kind of rough.

Poured up on tap at the 2015 edition of the AZ Strong Beer Festival where it exhibits a clear copper body the supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a little bit of caramel to go along with sort of malt sweetened citrus hops as well as some floral and resiny bitter smelling grassy hoppiness. The taste starts smooth and sweet with a dash of off putting caramel like sweetness. It then gets into pleasing degrees of pine and citrus and spicy onion hops leading into a light degree of floral hops. This seems like a hodge podge of tasty hoppy notes that try hard to overcome the shortcomings of the sweet sort of caramel thing that’s going on here. So all-in-all still a tasty IPA.

Poured up on tap at the 2015 edition of the AZ Strong Beer Festival where it exhibits a crystal clear gold body that supports a tall tight light tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up a bit of spicy hops that lean toward onion and then a little bit of malts and cracker like maltiness. The taste is kind of juicy and then gets bitter with hops. It is mostly juicy clementine and then a thin layer of juicy orange and then rolling into grapefruit hop bitterness and spicy onion hoppy bitterness.

Bottle: Pours hazy, amber-gold with a medium-sized white head. Grainy, light fruit scent. Taste is bready....citrusy....lemon.. Sweet/sharp.....ok, but doesn’t have the brightness or crispness I’d prefer.

Bottle thanks to Josh! Pours a golden amber with a white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a good amount of sweet fruits and sweet citrus with a bit of light grains underlying. Flavor has similar notes with a touch of citrus but mainly sweet fruits and light sweet grains.

When do you love your mother in law...When she sends you beer.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a soft golden yellow color with a decent one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light lacing sticking around the glass.
The smell had a nice blend of sweet citrus to bitter grapefruit, backed up by a light caramel sweetness.
The taste was mainly sweet with a fair bitterness about it.
On the palate, this sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation was slightly prickly but still sat towards the APA style.
Overall, good APA I’d have again.
