Description
Driving on a dark stretch of two lane road, the Marquess family headed into the final stretch of their journey home. Pondering how to better live their creed of 'finding joy in the adventure,' they came up with a plan to join their passions of craft beer, travel, Arizona and the enjoyment of life. Founded, was Mother Road Brewing Company.

The Mother Road was the moniker given to U.S. Highway 66 by Grapes of Wrath author John Steinbeck, as he shared the story of the fictional Joad family, who traveled the road in hopes of trading desperation and heartache for hope and new beginnings. The Mother Road Brewery now resides along a lost portion of the storied highway, symbolizing both the journey we’ve made and our passion for craft beer, motoring and history.

I’ve been trying to buy local beers while we ramble through Arizona. This was my second beer found at Uptown Market in Sedona. 19.2 oz can now open and headed inside of a cup. The color is gold-orange compete with a slowly receding head of absolutely white foam. I smell tangerines, hops and grain. A drink gives me orange peel, grapefruit, crackers and a bit of pine. The beer is slightly sweet and slightly more than that with bitterness. Okay enough.

This stovepipe can came from Uptown Market in Sedona earlier today and tasting now at the Kachina Lodge on the rim of the Grand Canyon. The body is a substantially clear, dark gold finished by a long lasting top of fluffy solid white foam. The scent is citrus, nectarines and grain. The drink gives no surprises but delivers a decent and proper account. Lemons, melon, clover, malt, pine, candy and a small hops bitterness at the end. Nice enough to appreciate considerably on this trip.

Can from Utobeer. It pours clear golden with a fluffy white head. The aroma is sticky, sappy, pine, tangy citrus, grapefruit, pomelo and candied lemon. The taste is firmly dry, punchy bitterness which lingers throughout, green, grassy, pine needles, nip of booze, pithy, zesty, waxy lemon peel, grapefruit, pomelo, peppery spice and a pretty clean malt base. Finish is dry and bitter. Classic west coast. Straightforward but rewarding.
