Description
Driving on a dark stretch of two lane road, the Marquess family headed into the final stretch of their journey home. Pondering how to better live their creed of 'finding joy in the adventure,' they came up with a plan to join their passions of craft beer, travel, Arizona and the enjoyment of life. Founded, was Mother Road Brewing Company.

The Mother Road was the moniker given to U.S. Highway 66 by Grapes of Wrath author John Steinbeck, as he shared the story of the fictional Joad family, who traveled the road in hopes of trading desperation and heartache for hope and new beginnings. The Mother Road Brewery now resides along a lost portion of the storied highway, symbolizing both the journey we’ve made and our passion for craft beer, motoring and history.

On tap at Mother Road, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is full of piney hops, tropical fruit, citrus bitterness and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is bright and vibrant, with pleasantly bitter piney hops, dry tropical fruit, and crisp biscuity malt. Vibrant, pleasantly bitter and balanced. Excellent.

On tap at Mother Road, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out sturdy roasted malt, a little liquorice, and a touch of perfumey alcohol. Flavour is much the same, with a moderate roasted malt base, followed by gentle black liquorice, and again with the boozy perfumey notes. That latter quality makes me think this needs a little tweaking. Not bad but far from a superior example of the style.

On tap at Mother Road, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is pleasantly juicy, with bright citrus hops, some stone fruit and biscuity malt. Flavour is nicely bitter, with bitter citrus rinds, stone fruit pith and crisp biscuity malt. Nice crisp citrus hops, but maybe a tad muddled in the body. Good overall.

On tap at Mother Road, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Nose is on point, with bready malt, light toasted caramel and subdued English hops. Flavour follows as expected, with a good balance of dry caramel bready malt and light English hop bitterness. Nice balance and well-constructed.
