This Scotch Ale has a great look. It’s a deep rich brown liquid with a creamy ecru head. The aroma is sweet with caramel and brown sugar. There’s a touch of peat in there along with some dark fruits. The taste is a touch sweeter than I’d prefer, but it’s still quite good. A little more smokiness would do wonders for this beer. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. It’s a pleasant, enjoyable beer and I could imagine having it in regular rotation, especially for fans of the style. Good stuff.

Canned (thanks omhper!). Deep amber colour, mediumsized fluffy slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity and floral hops along with some sweet malts and spices. Flavour is sweet malts, alcohol, fruity and floral hops as well as some toffee. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Can, one pint, trade with omhper. Clear and shiny amber body covered by a thin, but lasting ecru coloured head. Modest aroma of apricot and oranges. Richer taste of peaches, grapefruits and apricot supported by earthy malts. Medium lingering bitter taste. Smooth, nice and refreshing (hotel room in Gamla Stan, Stockholm 28.07.2010).

Draught at the brewpub (10.5%). Near black, small head. Aroma of tropical fruits, licorice, banana an marzipan. Sweet and almondy. Full bodied with dense, yet spritzy mouthfeel, sprinkled with dusty coffee. Warming finish with mild bitterness. Big, but mild and drinker friendly.
