Draft at the Brewpub: Dark brown pour with a moderate tan head and spotty lacing. Nose is heavy on the roasted malt with light coffee notes. Taste is primarily roasted malt, some light coffee, cocoa, and bittersweetness. Dry, lingering finish.

Draft at the Brewpub: Brownish copper pour with a large beige head and nice lacing. Nose is malty and earthy, some sweetness as well. The taste is rich with maltiness, caramel, light bitters, and rye. Even a little smoky. Thought this was one of the pub’s better ales.

Draft at the Brewpub: Rusty brown pour with a moderate beige head. Nose is mild and of malt, caramel, and has an overt sweetness. The taste is more malty, some rye, earth tones, and citrus. It was on nitro; very smooth. I think this may boost my feelings on this one.

Draft at the Brewpub: Pours a golden straw color with a light haze. Moderate white head, but no real lacing. Faint aroma of malt, kind of sweet. The taste is wheaty, malt, and maybe caramel. Very smooth, yet I have to drop my overall rating because my wife liked it.

Draft at the Brewpub: Pours a hazy orange color with a large white head and thick lacing. Nose is mild hops, citrus and sweet bitterness. The taste is flowery and citrus oriented with caramel and malts. A little mild in flavor intensity and wetter feeling than I like my IPA’s.

Draft at the Brewpub: Deep brown with some reddish tones. Medium sized tan head and thick lacing. Nose is lagerish with hints of caramel and dark fruits. Taste is heavy on the malt side with prunes, raison, caramel, and an overall sweet/malty sensation.

Draft at the Brewpub: Pours orange with a smaller white head and good lacing. Nose is sweet and fruity, citrus and malt. Taste is consistent with the aroma and adds a caramel and malty note. Very light bitters. One of the better maibocks sampled this season.

Draught pint at alehouse. Not much aroma here, perhaps it was served too cold. Blah at first, improved as the pint warmed. I tasted the barrel more than I did the beer. Excellent oaky, coffee tinged finished. This beer ended better than it began, but I can’t rave about it.

Ruby colour with lasting head. Sweet malt aroma. Full flavour with a lasting finish that pleases. Much alcohol warmth.
