Bottle at the Saveurs d’Eléonore in Menton (it wasn’t exactly a bar, Natko :p ). Poured a quite hazy yellow body with a thick white head. Very light pleasant bready/lemony nose. Spicy dry taste, some coriander? Light agrumey notes. Ok, drinkable beer and definitely a great find.

09/10 A 0.33 l bottle from a bar in Menton. It poured a hazy orange to brown body with medium head, although we left some yeast in the bottle. Weaker aroma of some caramel, orange and spices... Flavor is quite different, yeasty with some hops. Caramel malt and orange are still intertwining between cloying yeast and a touch of alcohol near the finish. Finish itself was longer as of fuller body, with specially pronounced orange. Nice one indeed.

09/10 A 0.33 l bottle in a bar in Menton. It poured murky yellow body with medium sized head. Spicy peppery and raisin aroma, yeasty, pleasant but quite weak. Flavor was subtly nice Bittersweet with honey and banana, some oranges (I didn’t feel lemon) and spiciness. But watery, like Belgian Wits, not regular blond Ales. That thin body can only offer you short and unfortunately slightly papery finish. Just OK one, misses body and some rounding.

330ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour, with a bit of a haze and a small tan head. Fruity and spicy aroma with hints of raisins, cinnamon and cloves. Fruity taste with malt, spice and some roasted notes. Raisins, cinnamon, cloves and marzipan can be detected in the taste. Nicely balanced and very drinkable. I am impressed.

Bottle in Menton, 2006. A blonde beer with a slight amber tinit. Left the yeast in the bottle, but it is still pretty cloudy. Very small head, turning into lace immediately. Strong aroma of fruits and spice—additive, I was told. Smells like red berries, spices, quite sweet, actually, not much malt or hops coming through. Tastes like beer, though, even if it doesn’t quite smell like it. A slightly roasted malt flavor is accompanied by cinnamon. Good hops too, I think. It is a bit sour, from what, I do not know. Not as sweet as I expected. Not as fruity either. It is primarily a heavily spiced blonde almost amber ale? I like it. It is a bit over the top in the spicing, but not at all disgusting. It works, though it relies a bit too much on the flavorings to get it through, not enough malt flavor. Not perfect, not exactly my type, but nice. Better in the summer, I think. One of the best highly-spiced beers I have had.

Bottle in Menton, 2006. 3.5 A spiced abbey double. Dark brown, cloudy, very small head that quickly disappeared. A touch of lace left over. Sweet aroma of fruits—berries, and spices—cinnamon? Not much of the beer itself coming through. A touch of chocolate too. Full-on roasted malt flavor, though. A touch sweet, but not overboard, well balanced by roasted flavor and alcohol. Not a lot of hops noticeable. Dry finish, roasted malt, some hops? Very well balanced. Spices come through extremely strong in the nose, but very light in the flavor. Well done again. A really nice beer.

Bottle in Menton, 2006. Cloudy, medium amber colored beer with a low head, turning quickly to lace. Very strong aroma of spice and fruit. A typical amber malt aroma, a bit sweet, with ornage or lemon and a lot of spice. Flavor is rather dry, slightly roasted and nutty, a touch earthy, with not much sweetness. Decent citrus fruit and spice flavor goes well with the dryness. Dry hop finish. Slightly sour and tangy. Perfectly balanced. Not terribly exciting, but a very well made beer.

bottle. Hazy golden colour, mediums-ize head. Malty-fruity nose. Very aromatic, malty and hoppy with hints of herbs.

bottle. Cloudy pale yellow, large head. Yeasty and fruity, the added herbs and spices of the Mediterranean are detectable, which makes this beer something really interesting and special.

bottle. Dark brwon colour, tiny but persistent head. Fruity and malty flavour, clear hints of roasted malt and herbs/spices. Long finish with hints of coffee and bitter chocolate.
