Description
Keystone Brewery was set up in July 2006 by husband and wife team Alasdair and Charlotte Large, taking the beautiful Fonthill arch as inspiration for the name. Alasdair is brewing traditional southern English beers of high quality and consistency.

Cask (Cricketers, Southampton) - Golden with a white head. Malty aroma with hints of grass and fruit. Balanced malty and hoppy taste with some more fruity hints.

(Cask at Kitty’s, Helsinki) Poured golden and slighly hazy. Head was medium sized, white and it disappeared quickly. Aroma contained malts, yeast and mild sourness. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, hops, fruitiness, herbalness, mild sourness, sweetness, wort and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter.

(Cask at Black Door, Helsinki) Poured amber and clear. Head was medium sized, quite quickly disappearing and white. Aroma contained molasses and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were molasses, mild roastedness, nuts, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste contained molassses and bitterness.

(Cask at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki) Poured amber and clear. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma contained toffee, strawberry and malts. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, strawberry, hops, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Victoria, Clifton, Bristol 20/08/10. Deep gold in colour with a slight white head. Sweetish, slightly honeyed aroma with a hint of spice and grassy hop. Flavour of apricots, with a slightly yeasty edge and moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask@Bishops Stortford Beer Festival 2010. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is wood, some mild vanilla and honeyish notes as well. Flavour is quite similar in a rather nice balance. A pleasant Golden Ale.

Cask. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is bready malts, some mild fruits and nectar along with mild honey. Flavour is quite similar. Rather typical golden/blond ale.

Cask-conditioned at the Royal Oak, Bath 29/04/10. Dark reddish-brown with a decent, off-white head. Plenty of dark fruit and roasted malts, with a touch of sweetness. Good.

Cask@O’Connells, Tampere. Deep murky amber colour with not too much head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malts, mild dark dry fruits as well as some mild vanilla. Flavour is roastedmalts, coffee and mild chocolate.

Cask-conditioned at the Southampton Arms, London 25/03/10. Copper coloured with a thin white head. Sweet malty aroma, with some powdered chocolate, red fruit and long, bitter finish. Very good.
