Description
We’re the oldest brewery on the Isle of Wight and one of the first independent craft beer producers in the UK. Goddards has been brewing fine real ales in the beautiful surroundings of Barnsley Farm since 1993.

In 2025 Goddard's became a Powder Monkey Group Company.

Cask at the Simeon Arms, Ryde, on the IOW Jolly Day 24/08/14. Clear golden amber with a moderate off white head that retains. Nose is earthy, toffee, spice, malty, brown bread. Taste comprises mellow dark fruits, toffee, faint cocoa, bready. Medium bodied, fine carbontation, semi drying close with light bitterings. Adequate.

Bottle - Dark sugars and pale malts.  Clear gold with a decent white head.  Candy sugars, raisin and some malts.  Basic and decent.

Cask - BBQ chicken and sulphur.  Clear gold with a decent white head.  Bready and pale malts with some light bitterness.  Smell is really off, but beer is fine.

Bottle thanks to Leighton picked up at Shanklin Co-Op. It ours clear golden-amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet, grainy, doughy, melon, apple, pear. The taste is sweet, grainy, apple, pear, minimal alcohol, melon, dough and icing sugar with a dry finish Medium body and fine carbonation. Simple, but easy-going. Decent.

Bottle at the the Waterfront Inn, Shanklin during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is toasty, juicy, tangerine, grain and mild caramel. The taste is toasty, grainy, brown bread, caramel, earth, leather and grass with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Easy going and decent enough ESB.

The taste is bitter, toasted grain, brown bread, citrus peel and grass with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Not bad.

Cask at the Simeon Arms, Ryde during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear pale gold with a small white head. The nose is eggy, sulfurous, farty, corn and earth. The taste is crisp, grassy, egg & cress sandwich, toast, citrus peel and soap with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Eggy/sulphrous stuff is pretty nasty. No good.
