on tap at 1702 pours dark brown to black with a medium tan head. Aroma is licorice, maple wood and syrup and a little booze. Flavor is light roast and licorice with a little heat and light peppery spicing in the finish. Very well done, I could drink alot more of this.

Poured up on nitro tap at the brewpub with uber dark mahogany body and lasting mocha head. The modest aroma offers up dark roasted malts and faint amounts of chocolate, earthiness and toffee. The taste is smooth giving up firm notes of dark roasted malts, dark roasted coffee and then a mix of black licorice and earthiness in the background. Nice brew.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub with copper with lasting off white head. The somewhat modest aroma emits citrus hops, hop resin and hop sweetness. The resin and sweetness seem to tussle it out for a bit. The taste seems to burst with hoppy goodness to the tune of pine and grapefruit as well as a tropical fruit notes or two. A modest pulse of malt sweetness shows up briefly before the hops ratchet back up the level of bitterness. The beer tosses hops at you and I’m only happy to catch them.

Poured up on tap at the brewpub with copper body and lasting off white head. It has a pleasing aroma of bitter citrus hops, a mild level of pine hops and a sense of sweet malts. The taste offers up a nice level of maltiness mixing with pine hop resin and then quickly becoming filled with grapefruit hop flavor and growing citrus hop bitterness. This is a full hop forward brew that seems as much an IPA as anything else. I’m fine with that.
