Tap @ CBM Toranomon, New England vs West Coast event. Pours orange with some white foam, quite deep orange actually. Nose has some biscuity malt sweetness but also some prickly hops. Taste reveals quite sweet beer, malty character overall, some grassy bitterness trying to create some balance into the equation. Citric notes come out in the mid-taste but also in the finish. Nothing special but also not too bad.

Bottle number 96 from 333 bottles in this batch. Pours hazy, decent foam, dark yellow, a bit dirty haze. Relatively normal weizen nose, little sourish because of the what character, some cloves and spices, strong banana yeast. More hoppy than a normal weizen hough. Taste reveals actually quite liberal use of ups, this really is "India Pale Weizen". Extra spices add to the bitterness, some of it is coming from coriander I think. Green, herbal bitterness, that is turning more rough and pretty dry in the aftertaste. Tongue is feeling many tannins, bitterness remains lingering for some time longer. Interesting take on a traditional German style and I think that also quite successful, just hope I had gotten this bottle while it was a bit fresher.

iquid autumn color. Hoppy, clean nose. Very bready mouth but with big hoppiness. Kinda like a very hoppy Vienna. Very unique

Tap at Yellow Ape, side by side with this year’s ale version. Nice pilsner nose, Cascade hops, citrus, grass. Clear gold with orange and a low, lacy head. Good German lager feel to the flavor, bread / crackers, nice bitterness. A bit watery in the body, but quite nice and quite a bit better than the ale yeast version with the same recipe (3.4).

big dark chocolate, citrusy with coriander in the nose. The mouth is fairly hoppy with lots of roasted malt and citrus notes. well balanced

Medium amber color. Big piney and citrus nose with decent malt character. Body feels a bit heavier than 5.7% and is definitely is a bit malt accented, but sufficient hops to balance this beer out. Modest bitter finish. Good

Keyaki fall 2016. Light grainy nose with some faint lemon notes. Crisp and clean and quite light. A tad more lemon on the finish with some light grass. Decent.

On tap at The Lower Right, Tokyo. Pours golden, white head. Fruity, banana, wheat, spicy, bready. Light to medium bodied. Nothing too special, but a decent hefe.

Hazy amber color. Big big malty backbone with tons of citrus notes and notes of caramel. Bracing bitterness. The hops just linger and linger. Full body, full impact IPA. Reminds me on a PNW IPAs from the 1990s, but really well put together.

Back after a few years hiatus it seems. Tap at Gremlin. Murky orange and gold with almost no head. Light white grapefruit forward nose with some piney hops. Clean, grapefruit flavor. Alcohol hidden well. Feels a little heavy, but nice and refreshing. Good fruit IPA with a hoppy bitter finish alongside some mild grapefruit pith.
