On tap at the Hay Merchant. It’s an unclear, yellowish golden beer with a small white head. There’s a touch of chicken manure in the aroma, which is mostly citrus and wheat. Not much coriander seeds going on. The flavor is quite sweet, with wheat, spent grains, citrus peel and a decent bitterness. Medium body, very soft carbonation. Citrus and some wheat and bitterness in the finish. Not very impressive this one. 130825

On draught at Petrol Station. This beer pours a cloudy orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that dissipates gradually. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of citrus, hops and malt. Medium to full body with flavors of citrusy hops, tropical fruit and grainy malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a hoppy aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tap at the Hey Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin off white head. Good lacing ensues. Nose is pale malt, hops, light vegetal notes, bitter orange. Taste comprises orange pith, caramel, sugars, hops, light pine. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Average IPA - entry level affair.

Tap at the Hey Merchant, Houston, 21/05/13. Hazed orange amber with a thin white head. Nose is citrus, pale malts, grass, light sugars, touch of caramel sweetness. Taste comprises lemon rind, herbal notes, wheat, bread dough, spice. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Passable wit.

Aroma is balanced between malt, dark fruit and acidity. The malt has a fairly toasted bread and nut character to it with some light caramel. The fruit is cherry, berry and grape. Acidity seems to be fairly acetic. Light funk. Pours a fairly dark brown with some nice ruby highlights. Seems to be fairly clear. Tan head of medium low thickness that recedes fairly quickly to the edges and a thin layer that is steadily replenished. Flavor starts with some sweet fruit and malt it then it goes down hill from there. Some plum and berry in the flavor upfront along with toasted bread and nuts. Mid palate a less than desire able moderately strong and harsh bitterness hits that also brings in a moderate acidity. Acidity definitely tends to be more acetic than lactic. Mid palate there is also some raisin notes and more nuttiness. Light alcohol spice in the finish. Light plastic phenolic note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high almost effervescent carbonation. Low astringency and moderate alcohol warmth. Overall this beer is a definite miss in my book. The acidity is off and doesn't work well with the malt in both the aroma and flavor. Also there is a slight phenolic note and in the flavor the bitterness is harsh and unwelcoming. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at the Ginger Man, Houston, 21/05/13. Mid black with a medium tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malt, vanilla, syrup, sugars, chocolate. Taste comprises pecan, roast malt, lactose, light chocolate notes. Medium bodied but a little on the thin/watery side - certainly for a 6.8% ABV beer, moderate carbonation, soft roast in the finish. Drinkable porter, let down by lack of body and no great depth of flavour, not one I’d look to in the future.

Firkin at the Flix Brewhouse firkin fest. Pours a cloudy yellow with a slight orange hue and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with a touch of light fruit and barrel. Flavor has a sweet bread flavor with a touch of cab barrel and light fruit in the finish.
