Sample at the Beer ’N Rock Band tasting on 08/27/2010: The beer is a clear straw color with a thin and foamy white head that evaporates quickly to a film. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Barely detectable grainy malt aroma. Light body with malt and faint hops and leather flavors. The finish is short and mildly malty. Below average overall.

33cl bottle, available all over Ghana. pours dark brown, thick light tan head. aroma, sour lactose notes, caramel malts, flavors, malty, touch of roast, lingering sorghum adding a lingering lactose sourness, touch of bitter chocolate/caramel with hints of roast. Nice thick palate. Warming abv and definitely interesting touch of sorghum. This is hands down the best beer you can get in Ghana. Sadly many places have poor refrigeration and the beer will usually not be served properly, but when this beer is stored and served the way it should be, it’s one enjoyable and interesting stout.

625 bottle, available all over Ghana. Liked this one a lot more than Star or Club followed by Stone Lager. pours golden straw, white head. aroma and flavors, sweet malts, grainy, maize like mouthfeel, pale malts, nose of wort, light touch of tropical fruits and mild citrus bitterness; mango, orange. Bittersweet finish, not bad but like every other beer in Ghana, it’s nothing too impressive.

Bottle avail. all over Ghana. Suggest to drink the small version rather than the 625ml version, especially if you end up in Upper region where refrigeration is often an issue and your beer ends up warm in 10 minutes. Pours clear golden, white head. Aroma grainy, malty, some hints of wheat and barley and notes of sweetness. Flavors, pale malts, gritz and added maize sweeteners, metallic corn and watery finish. Fizzy bitter mouthfeel.

Bottled 330ml. -Pitch black coloured, brown head, lactic nose. Roasted malt, sorghumy and coffee taste with quite strong licorice presence. Pleasant bitterish finish. Easy drinkable despite high ABV and for sure the best beer from Ghana.
