Bottle Opens with a very hard explosion-pof, but no beer splashes out. Clear amber body. Slightly off-white, creamy head, which fastly diminishes almost totally. Very beautiful beer. Complex nose of old wood, apples, white wine, fine liquor, citrus. Moderatelately sour, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately sour, moderately bitter finish. Nicely well balanced beer. The typical 3 Fonteinen mark is enormously shining through, but somewhat less sharper (but more softer) than the ’ordinary’ gueuze. Definitely another succes of Armand.

An unclear orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is super acidic with notes of grapefruit and wood, and the flavor is also lovely acidic with lots of grapefruit notes, and with a dry metallic end.

37.5 ml bottle from Dorstvlegel, Antwerp. Bottled 23/12/2003. Blood red, no head. Sour funky aroma. Very sour and more funk in mouth, cherries kick in. This really is a lovely lambic. Just some faint cherry sweetness before sour finish which just lasts and lasts. Great beer. 4.2/5. Re-rate 23/12/2003 bottle at The Palace Hotel, Poperinge. I gave this exactly the same rating, how bizarre. Touch of mustiness on aroma. Restrained but mature cherry aroma. Smooth cherry cream aroma. Smooth mature and stunning. Vinous.

(Bottle 37,5 cl) Pours a hazy honey golden with a creamy, off-white head. Distinct acidity in the nose, but also fruit, barnyard, manure and horse sweat - all the usual Brett characteristics. Light body with lots of fruitiness, citrus - grapefruit in particular - and acidity. But actually surprisingly smooth and mellow. This is not the kinda gueuze that makes your tongue crumble. Thanks to BierKönig for sharing. 100306

Draught at ZBF 2006, Sint-Niklaas, Belgium
Creamy, white head. Hazy white to yellow body. Very heavily hoppy aroma: orange peels, lemons, perfume, herbs, grass, ... Lightly acidic, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly acidic, heavily bitter finish (somewhat metallic). Lightly to medium bodied. Lively carbonation. Nice bitter, well balanced lager.

Hazy, grainy-coloured beer; fast receding whitish head. Very nice lemony-citrussy nose over horseblanket and distinctly wheat. Very mild, malse gueuze. Smoked, grainy, near sweet-malty notes, sweet muscat grapes. Better filled than most gueuzes, slick (restsweetness? couldn’t be with Brett). Another superb try by Armand. Definitely within the 3 Fonteinen frame - they all resemble each other a bit, but are all just great.
