Corked bottle, plastic cork, 37.5 cl, bottled 2006-02-17
Beautiful golden color, clean, with 1cm of foam, creamy but that disappears quickly. It has a peculiar aroma, because to the classic cellar aroma adds an unusual malt and sugar. In the front the mouthfeel is rounder than the average Drie Fonteinen, also because of the extremely low carbonation; it has some malt flavor, it even seems to have some residual sweetness, but suddenly the bitterness increases, like eating the peel of some very bitter citrus fruit, maybe too bitter for my expectations, and at the end there is a light astringency too. The final soften this aggressivity, and it’s overall pleasant, with some cellar flavors, citrus fruits and bitterness all together. Good but not impressive.

Murky red colour. Very intense, berry smoothie, touch of vanilla, but also extremely acidic, aggressive; it has enough complexity, the raspberry puree dominates, but the cherry adds a nice touch.

Cloudy ruby color, no head. Strong aroma, Morello cherries, raspberries (well mature), then the classic cellar touch; some plastic too; everlasting aroma. Medium sourness, astringent mouthfeel, with a mix of every citrus fruit, lemon and grapefruit winning on the others for the sourness, somehow a very light sweetness too; fruity (mainly raspberries and pink grapefruit) and balanced, perfect. Long final, with a touch of woody astringency too. Great.

Bottle 750ml.Unclear - hazy orange color with a small, virtually none appearance, virtually none lacing head. Aroma is sour, apple, lemon - grape, wood, horse blanket. Flavor is moderate sour with a average to long duration, and a dry dry finish. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. Very nice (020208) 8-4-8-4-17 Bottle 750ml. [ Vintage 2007 ]. Clear medium yellow orange colour with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy barnyard, citrus, fruity, light wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate acidic with a long duration, citrus, dry, wood, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft - flat. [20120127] 8-4-9-4-18

37,5 cl bottle. Thanks to Yespr. Pours hazy orange (into my 3 fonteinen glass) with a off white head. Aroma is amazing - Sour, fruity (grape/citrus), fresh, wood/oak, earthy, vinegar. Flat carbonation - soft. Quite simple & drinkable gueze - not as sour as the regular 3 fonteinen - yet still very original. Love it!

Bottled. Golden colour with huge creamy slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel, fudge, some citrus fruit and mild spices. Also some notes of wheat and yeast are there. Flavour is citrus, wheat, some spices and toffee/fudge. Different witbier, and I quite like this one.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color with a froathy lacing white head. Aroma is citrus with plenty of spices opening my airways. The taste is a bit harsh at first with that carbonated citrus, however it soon passed to a malty tangy grass finish. A impressive Belgium lager.

Had the pleasure of sampling this at the 1/27/2008 Pittsburgh ratebeer.com gathering and festival upstairs, Sharp Edge Creekhouse. It will be a long time, if ever I am invited again and I see a spread of bottles like I did there - ever again. I am not good enough for the beers that were that we sampled! For example, how about this beer; Schaer Kriek! Thanks linus_stick! Does not possess a hole lotta cherry aroma, but there is s hint of fruit in there I cannot identify. All I get is mostly ’lambic is coming’ on the olfactory. Looks beatifully pinkish with a quick head that fades. Good creamy carbonation that is welcomed. Ropey, farmy beer flavors. Has a unique flavor all its own. Yes, cherries but it is not sour nor sweet. Tart never ending experience. Overall, very acceptable and fun to be with, thanks Alan, I owe you one!

Bottle: Golden with a medium white head. The aroma is light citrus fruit also contained hints of spice and wheat. Taste is nice with a citrus white beer taste to include that wheat finish. Just enough carbonation to keep the taste bud lively.

Bottle: Poured a murky blonde with a bubbly white head. The aroma is a soapy fruit with yeast and spice. Taste is a nice orange peel with fruit, there is suttle spices that warm the tongue. Finish is almost like a weizen with yeast.

Bottle at home with Tom ... Crips golden Orange ... odd not unpleasent woody nose with a tiny tart sourness ... gentle sourness ... some cider notes ... again an odd woodyness ... good mouthfeel ... with an odd drying linger some lemon tones in finish
