[Old version] A hazy orange beer with a small collapsing head. The aroma is lovely sour with notes of peach and grapes. The flavor is sweet and only slightly sour with notes of grapefruit and grapes. The end is dry from the acidity. [7/3/7/3/15=3.5]
[2010 version] An unclear golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of grapes, malt, and caramel. The flavor is sweet and sour with notes of grapes and fruits on a lightly malty background, leading to a tart finish. [8/3/8/4/15=3.8]

Murky amber colour. Hugely dusty, vinous aroma. Big, fat lambic tang. Tart and vinous. Lond and dry. Complex mingling of the wine world with traditional lambic notes.

Moderate tan colour with a decent level of cloudiness. Woody gueuze with notes that remind me of Montgomery’s Cheddar. Funky, musty, actually somewhat light flavour.

Amber-shot orange gueuze; clearly orange coloured, slim head, fast gone. Superb nose, woody, horseblanket, vying to be amongst the most complex gueuzes ever tried. Effortlessly succeeding. End of the nose is very citrussy. Superbly dry, woody, with bamboo-shoot flavour, glue or organic solvent; lemon, pineapple, pinewood, turpentine. Superbly tart, huge dry-out effect. This beer is a one-off, but can be obtained at De Heeren van Liedekercke (Denderleeuw). IF you’re deemed worthy enough. I wasn’t for one, but thank God one of my friends was - because this is undoubtely a true top-gueuze. "Woody" gets a new meaning here.

[Vintage 1985-1987 bottle] The aroma is fantastic containing raspberries and great sourness. The color is dark amber (rather than red - could be the age) with some sediment floating around and it has a fine off-white head. The flavor is very powerful with notes of wood, lending it some dryness, raspberries, grapefruit and a sourness that draws out the mouthwater. The finish is dry and woody. A great beer that gives a flavor explosion in the mouth. Thanks a lot to Joris for this fantastic experience.

Hazy amber-orange body. No head. Horse-blanket aroma. Moderately acidic initial flavour, lightly bitter finish. Superb lambic. Armand, we love you!

Dark red with a pink head - very pretty. Aroma of leather and cherries. Respectable amount of funk, but not assertively so. Ditto the acidity, which is ably balanced with sweet cherry notes and a dryish, nutty character.

2019. Red, a bit hazy. Thin head. Nice raspberry note. Dry, leathery, nice residual lingering rasp. Delicious, artful. 4 8 9 5 17 2011-2012 vintage, aged a couple of years. Deep cherry red. No head. The aroma is deep raspberry, with woody elements, and some sugary sweetness. Very dry, quite woody, and it has a lot of berry character, leading to a long, dry finish. 1986 Vintage, sampled May 2004 Orangey-amber colour. Funky aroma - stinky cheese, raspberry and earth. So well-integrated you can’t help nosing the beer over and over again. Slight acetic hint to the big acid body. Hugely complex - raspberries, nuts, leather and oak. Extremely well-balanced. Some sips you’re drinking a collection of great flavours, other sips you’re drinking just one great flavour. Drinking this is like peeling back layers of time as the beer slowly reveals itself. Outstanding. I gave this a 4.9, but fresh examples aren’t near that level.

Sampled from cask at Akkurat, Stockholm (7%).
Cloudy orange with rich head. Concentrated citric aroma. Wonderful soft mouthfeel. Fresh and fruity - lemnon juice! Some grassy hops in the background, a just a hint of barnyard. Superb.
