Draft, on premises. I found a good dark and toasty nose, with bitter chocolate flavor. A thin head per the style. Coffee notes come through while drinking, then leaves a good dry finish.

Draft, on premises.A good hop bitterness, though its 38 advertised IBU’s are not much more than their helles. Slightly cloudy dark yellow body under an off-white head with mucho lacing. Finished off with a good, bitter aftertaste. Closer in style to an American ale, as hennes mentioned, though not quite as malty.

Draft, on premises.Has a very light lager taste, but without the yeast bite. The advertised 33 IBU's were not very pronounced, but they contributed to a nice warming aspect. I only had a sampler glass, but I got a good clean Helles smell when I put my nose into it.

Draft, on premises. Light wheaty taste, with a very pale color. Some hoppiness starts to show through toward the end. I’ll call it middlin’ to good.

Draft, on premises. A flowery, fruity hop nose is a good start. Otherwise, the taste is a little thin and watery, but you can still find a decent mouthfeel. A decent brewpub lager and okay as a light. (17 IBU's, according to the Lodge).

Business in Flint gave me a chance to do a “pubcrawl across Michigan.” Had to make this my first stop when I saw this beer was a 2003 GABF Gold Medalist.
Yes! Creamy and roasty, not oily at all. Despite a good coffee flavor, the taste is somehow “light.” Its dark stout head just seems to add to the chewy texture. Worth the trip to discover this roomy brewpub/restaurant. (Additionally: The pub lists this beer as having 30 IBU's).
