Bottle from Once Upon a Vine - South on 04/02/2011. Slightly hazy orange body with a large rocky off-white head. Dry wheat and faint spice aroma. Dry wheat, light fruit and spice flavor. Medium light body with moderate carbonation. 3/2/3/2/5 - 1.5 On 03/26/2006. Hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Sweet malt flavor with some hints of lemon. (Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a clear, dark amber with a creamy, off-white head. Sweetish, malty caramelish nose. Medium body dominated by roasted malt and again some caramel. Sweetish, but not overwhelmingly so. Almost no bitterness. According to German tradition this is far from a Bock, but for an American macro it’s not really too bad. 200306

Bottle from Once Upon a Vine - South on 04/02/2011. Clear dark copper body with a thin off-white head. Sweet caramel and light bready malt aroma. Sweet caramel and bready malt flavor. Medium body with moderately low carbonation. 5/3/6/2/11 - 2.7 03/10/2006. Clear brown color with a thin off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with some light corn. Thin flavor with some hints of darker malt, and a corn aftertaste. 4/4/5/2/8 - 2.3

Lightly cloudy yellow-orange color with a thin white head that lasts pretty well. Thin and spotty lacing. Light citrus and spices in the nose. Light-bodied and fairly zesty with citrus up front along with some wheat and spices. The flavor mellows out pretty quickly though. The finish is round and wheaty. Really not worthwhile.

Pour is a deep, dark red with a small white head. Aroma is like a toffe with some hops in there. Flavor is malty and the hops show up here as well. Still nothing to get excitied about. Bland in the end.

Bottle. A toasted malt and sweet cherry/amaretto aroma. Reddish amber with small head. Sweet corn and barley flavor with a mild bitter finish. A bit cloying but really a good facsimile to its German brothers.

Doesn’t look like a weizen at all, a bright and clear orangey-brown color, with a medium fizzy head, fades fast. Caramelized aroma, a touch of bread and spice. Slightly rounded up front, and a surprisingly hoppy finish. Lacking the spritzy quality of a wheat, it is instead slick and smooth, drinks like an amber lager. Also lacks any phenols

Update 2003: Crystal clear brown with reddish tinge, medium foaming head faded quickly. Not the appearance of a dunkelweizen but not unattractive either. Light aroma is wheaty and minty. Flavor is similar, and well balanced with nice moderate sweetness up front, slightly dry finish. Esters are muted, some citrus and wheaty flavors, weak hints of phenols.

Hazy golden beer with a thin big bubbled white head. Sulfury wheat aroma, with band-aid. In mouth, lightly acidic notes with wheat, herbs and lemon. No typical banana notes in this. A bit past its prime.

Pour is a nice tan color with a white head. Aroma is hard to find. its slightly malty and slightly hoppy. Flavor is malty and bready with a touch of hops. Its ok and ilm glad i just bought a single of this.
