12 oz. can sent to me for review. Pour out quite hazy. A big head kicks up at first. Only as it dwindles away have I had a chance to put my nose to it. It has a bit more of a “beery” malt smell, with just a little tropical fruit at the edges. The taste too is pretty mild, for a style where many brewers try to blast one’s palate. The happiness does come to the fore, and it has a bit of bitterness, with a respectable 60 IBU. Lacks the pine resin of many American style Pale Ales, and instead offers a light mango and papaya taste. One a further swig, I get an impression of orange juice as well. The Shiner beers are generally meant for a wider audience than most of the younger brewers out there. And the “Wicked Juicy” is actually a nice introduction for the beer curious. Especially those who find the usual India Pale Ale to be on the rough side. 5.7% abv.

12 oz bottle pours out copper amber color topped with a sand head. Nose is caramel malts some leafy vegetables. Taste is more of the caramel malts some roast notes a little bit of sweetness and some spice.

Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Foods Plus, Plaistow NH. Appearance is hazy light brown with light sparkle, finger-width off-white foamy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong wheat cracker, mild caramel, fruit. Taste is light fruit with strong Pilsner-type cracker. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, average carbonation and lingering cracker finish. Overall, doesn't have the spiciness usually found in a rye offering. Should be "Farmhouse Wheat." One dimensional but inoffensive.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a cloudy bright golden color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sweet with sugar, salt and lime notes. The flavor was sweet and yeasty with sugar, salt and lime. Long finish. Medium body. Better than expected.

I know I rated Shiner Bock previously, not showing up. Time to try it again. Poured from a 12 oz can taken from a twelve pack bought at one of the local supermarkets. It is a deep dark brown with a small, light tan head. It smells of malt and grain. The taste is surprisingly light for such a heavy presence, the malt again, water, rice and an easy bitterness. Not great, not bad. The low ABV makes this very sessionable. Lone Star may claim to be the national beer of Texas but I think Shiner Bock claims the title now. 7/22/18
