Nice! Campfire smoke nose. Dark brown, modest head with clingy lacing. Pleasing smoky flavors with a little caramel behind it, balanced finish with a lingering smoke, maybe a touch too sweet, pushing toward cloying. But overall pretty good. Hard to believe its 8% until I get toward the end of the bomber when I can start to feel it, and there’s an spiritous component to the finish.

I haven’t noticed this sitting on the shelf all that long, and they don’t date the bottle...but this tastes old. Nose was doughy with strong notes of maple syrup and currants. Sweet heavy malts, mild astringency, lightly tart, medium bitterness at the finish. Absolutely no hop aromas or flavors. Hazy amber, modest head.

Bottle. Pours with a deep brown, near black body with a medium sized, light brown head (creamy, tight bubble grouping). Some lacing and decent retention. Aromas of smoke, bacon, bbq. Nearly a light plasticy phenol as well. Tar, asphalt, chocolate, mocha, dirt, earth, coffee. A hint of a slightly sweet malt note, a touch of vanilla as well. A hint of a fruity ester, minimal hop notes. Flavors of dirt, earth, lightly metallic, smoke. Tastes a bit soil like and a hint of vegital (nearly a DMS like cooked corn). Some chocolate notes. Coffee beans. Finishes decently dry. Medium to low bitterness with a neutral balance. Lingering smoke. Creamy and a bit warming. Medium carbonation with a somewhat full body. No astringency. Far more successful than their first beer.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe fruits, malt, caramel, and straw, leading to a bitter finish.
