Description
Our quest for truly great Scottish beer started in 2006 when our brewpub was opened. Ever since then, we have been brewing the finest artisan lagers and wheat beers in the UK. We brew all of our beers in strict accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, the German Purity Law of 1516, which we believe is simply the best way to make great beer.

WEST, under the leadership of Bavarian-born Petra Wetzel, is the only UK brewery to officially adhere to the Reinheitsgebot, merging centuries of traditional practice with state-of-the-art equipment. Our German roots are firmly planted in Glasgow and our company ethos can best be summed up as ‘Glaswegian Heart. German Head’.

330ml bottle. Pale gold with a foamy white head. Grassy aroma, taste is light, crisp, clean, exactly what you'd expect of a pils. Job done

it is.... a Pils. I don't really know what else to say. You want a Pils? This is a Pils. Job done. It's not a great one to my taste but then these aren't really my cup of tea so what do I know. It's crisp and clean and would probably hit the mark on a nice hot day. It's fine.

What would have been a bland but serviceable blonde is ruined by an absolute pig of an aftertaste. It's a mildly zesty, hoppy golden thing with a very bitter almost metallic-y finish. Far from West's finest work.

Bottle big thanks to Dan. It pours dark brown with a small off-white head. The aroma is rich fruit cake, malt loaf, earthy, toasty, sweet action, rich fruity character, sherry, oily, bit of whisky, oak and toffee. The taste is tart, tangy, sour, very fruity, berry, brown bread, malt loaf, zingy, oily, whisky action, sherry, vinous and warming alcohol. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Challenging and punchy. Big sherry vibes. Grey on me!

Creamy tan head left a decent cover on a still mahogany coloured body. Raisin, demerara, lactose, malt & bread aroma. Medium bodied, silky smooth over the tongue with a tickle down the throat & clean aft. Berry, brown sugar, malt, raisin & milk chocolate tastes with a light citrus finish.
