Description
The first written records of the brewery in Protivín date back to 1540. In 1711, it became the property of the Schwarzenberg noble family, where it remained for more than two hundred years. During the Schwarzenberg era, a beautiful brewhouse with copper boilers was built, including an atypical wort pan in the shape of a square, where beer is still brewed to this day. South Bohemian water from its own wells, traditional way of brewing and skills of South Bohemia are for decades the basis of beer brewed here, known under the brand Platan.

In 2008 the brewery became part of the Pivovary Lobkowicz Group.

Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is sweet malts and some slight grainy notes. Flavour is cooked vegetables, sweet malts, some yeast and grass. Big grassy finish and aftertaste.

Bottled. Pale yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, some grain and mild rubber. Flavour is pretty much the same along with some mild vegetably notes.

Draught at RBESG blind tasting at Modrý Abbé. Clear golden, creamy head. Light buttery cellar aroma. Sweetish with clean rounded mouthfeel. Low on hops but milky and with notes of butter. Quite malt driven with light grassy bitterness.

on tap at Modry Abbe in Klatovy - beer 5 on the blind tasting - on June 28, 3008Shady golden color, creamy white head. Oxidized, cardboard scent. Cardboard and vegetables taste. Metallic. Moussy mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Bottled. Golden colour, small white head. Flavour and aroma both are quite much nettle meeting a sugary sweetness. Quite meaningless "hemp beer".

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a huge white head. Aroma is mild grainy to cardboardish. Flavour is mild metallic and light grainy. Ends dry and bitter, mild spiced.
