Description
The brewery was founded as a “Rittergutsbrauerei” (manorial brewery) in 1840 by the Heydenreich family. The brewery was completely rebuild in 1890/1891 and was renewed again in 1933. In 1946 the authorities confiscated the brewery and it was incorporated into the Weimar consumer cooperative the following year. With the collapse of the GDR, however, an eventful time began for the brewery: Several investors were interested in the brewery's continued existence, but one after the other failed in this project. So it happened that in 1995, after more than 150 years of history, no more beer was brewed in Ehringsdorf. In 1999 the Wagner family from Pößneck, owners of the Rosen Brauerei, acquired the brewery site. In 2002 the construction of a new brewhouse with fermentation and storage tanks started. Beer has been brewing again in Ehringsdorf since spring 2003, of course according to original recipes.

“Ehringsdorfer Bonifatius Bock“, Flasche (50 cl) von Nahkauf, Mellingen. - Dunkelrotbraun, klar.

This can (looks just like the picture for St. Bonifatius Premium Craft Beer) is labeled 6.5% by volume; states it is brewed for Egerer; from an Egerer Advent box from the Woodland CostCo. Pours copper with an arguably beige head. Malty aroma. Some fruit. Med body or nearly. Flavor is malty with some arguably grassy hop. Finishes on a sweet note. I do not think this is a Helles. Given the ABV I put the rating here rather than under St. Bonifatius Premium Craft Beer. Sure seems more of a bock than a Helles. The color in my glass is a close match for the color shown in the bottle image here.

(bottle) Clear, copper to dark amber colour with a medium-sized off-white foamy head. Mildly toasted malty aroma with notes of caramel, subtle citric accents and a tinge of anise spice. Moderately sweet and delicately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Slightly toasted malt character with present notes of caramel, black tea, as well as subtle fruity and delicately spicy hoppy accents in the background; sweet-bitter, quite rounded finish. 27.VI.16

Bottle:Clear, pale greenish-golden, quickly collapsing loose white head; mainly artificial sweet and fruity aromas ("lemonade") in the nose, "beery" influences barely detectable; sweet and sticky; hardly drier in the short sweet and "lemony"-tart finish. Meh...
