Bottled. Deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is a bit dull, but wooden, mild syrupy, some mild earthyness as well. Flavour is quite much the same. A quite pleasant thing.

(Bottle at One Pint Pub) Poured brown and clear. Head was quite large, white and it lasted a moment. Aroma contained roastedness, fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, oxidisation, hops, roastedness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Too long time between the bottling and serving, unfortunately.

On draught at the brewpub: Amber coloured, fluffy off-white head; yeasty "green" nose with a light maltiness and a distinctive hoppiness; stronger bitter flavour, robust bitter finish with some caramelly traces. Much of a german Pils, less of a Dunkel in this brew.....................

Draught at the Brauhaus: Yeasty, faint smoked aroma, sweetish-caramelly too; deep amber coloured, hazy; sweetish flavour, medium bodied; mild, but distinctive smoked aromas in the coffeeish-bitter finish. A very pleasant smoked (good for beginners...) !

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy and very dark brown colour with a mid-sized firm and stable off-white foam. Aromatic and distinctive smoked malt aroma with caramel and a shy but present hoppy background. Bitter flavour, light to medium body, smooth carbonated mouthfeel. Well-rounded smoke-malty taste with herbal hops right from the beginning; moderately dry and aromatic malty and smoked finish with hints of coffee and a bitter hoppy blend. Surely the best Rütershoff brew I had so far.

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy amber colour with a medium-sized frothy eggshell-coloured head. Dusty and quite shy wheaty aroma with restrained fruity notes, also slightly tart and clovy. Bitter and sour flavour, light to medium body with a smooth carbonation for a Weizen. Slightly soapy and wheaty taste with a tart fruity note; dry, bitter and short finish. Not very exciting and a bit unclean.

(from the tap at the brewpub) Slightly hazy amber colour with a stable off-white medium-sized foam. Light-sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with an aromatic herbal hoppy blend. Bitter flavour, medium to light bodied, lively carbonated. Slightly yeasty and caramel-malty taste with balanced hops; dry and bitter herbal hoppy finish. A good one.

(from the tap at the brewpub) Black coloured hue with a frothy mid-sized tanned head, quickly diminishing. Slightly sweet roastmalty aroma with caramel and shy notes of liquorice. Bitter flavour, light to medium body, low carbonation. Roastmalty taste with caramel, liquorice, dried fruits, quite watery mouthfeel; dry and bitter, slightly hopped slim finish. Not very impressive.

(tap at the brewpub) Hazy golden to light amber colour with a small foamy white head. Yeasty and moderately sweet malty aroma with a herbal and floral hoppy note. Sweet malty, slightly bready with yeasts and a fruity note. Malty and herbal hoppy finish with medium bitterness. Drinkable beer, which reminds me of the Castroper Wiesen brew. 11.12.05
