Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a small off white head. The aroma is roast and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet raisin malt flavor and light roastiness in the finish. A decent amber from Indian Wells.

12oz bottle pours mighty dark with dark brown edges and short lived dark tan head of semi loose foam. The aroma comes across as a tad tart and hinting at red wine like qualities. In front of those notes are slightly larger odors of vague roasted maltiness and really little else. The taste begins with the same modest levels of tart red wine and it has thin swirls of dark roasted malts and maybe some black strap molasses. I think there are echoes of severely blunted smoke notes off in the background. Into the finish dark roasted malts become a bit more assertive and nearly cover up the tartness.

12oz bottle pours dark brown with thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up prunes and raisins with faint notes of chocolate and caramel so it smells pretty darn nice for the style. The taste is on the thin side with raisins and prunes moving into modest notes of caramel and faint chocolate. It gets a little earthy and fruity here and there too with faint yeasty lageriness well off in the background. Wow, tasty brew.

12oz bottle pours clear copper with tiny off white head. The aroma is big sugary cotton candy like berry fruitiness and the flavor is no different but rather in taste form. I don’t get any “beer” notes . . . can’t finish it either.

Bottle from Fresh and Easy in Vacaville, CA. Pours very dark brown with a slight beige head. Aroma of warm roast malt with some grassy/spicy hop. Full bodied. Flavor is mostly dark roast malt with some lightly spicy and herby hop. It’s ok, but not very intense in flavor. Finishes dryer than expected. Drinks too well for the ABV!
