Can. Nose is toffee, malt, fruit, bread. Taste is malt, bitter grapefruit rind, brown sugar, rye bread, pine, marmalade, vhint of licorice. Mouthfeel is thin. Very drinkable, and good complexity for the strength. Can?t shake the feeling I?d prefer is bigger brother while drinking.

Pours black with almost no head. Spicy, hoppy, and very big on the dark malts. Hops are very prominent, maybe mosaic? Black IPA meets Belgian ale is appropriate. Beautifully chocolatey/cocoa. A little bit grassy and herbal. Mild, a bit spicy and complex mouthfeel. Slightly yeasty. Bitter chocolate/cocoa very prominent in flavour. Quite Belgian, candi sugar and big rich and complex. Loads of dark malts. Also indeed "hoppy as hell", beautiful flavours which are mainly grassy and herbal as well as quite fruity (quite sure there is mosaic in here). Looong roasty, cocoa and very bitter, boozy finish, medium dry. Beautiful, extremely tasty.

Can from Deeside Drinks Emporium. It pours clear red - brown bread with a medium beige head. The aroma is malt - driven, brown bread, wood, pretzel, caramel, stewed orange citrus and grapefruit. The taste is dry, bitter, piney, resinous, zesty grapefruit, earthy, brown bread, peppery spice and burnt toffee with a drying, piney finish. Light - medium body and moderate carbonation. Sort of comes across as a hopped up esb. Not bad, but I prefer the regular bastard.
