About
In 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan and Andrew Burman founded Other Half Brewing Company, a local brewery in New York City with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. Their vision was to build a passionate team that brewed great beers in the state of New York—done so with effort and thoughtfulness—to represent the “Other Half” of the industry. Today, Other Half craft beers in their Brooklyn brewery and are dedicated to collaborating with breweries both in New York as well as across the world in an effort to constantly move the industry forward while elevating the craft. The Other Half team believes that local breweries play an important role in their communities which is why they partner with these other likeminded brewers and brands in local nabes across the country and the world—but always return to their home state of New York and their Brooklyn taproom.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 2023, Other Half no longer markets beers as "Double Dry Hopped". Instead, the DDH version is now listed as just the beer name, and the non-DDH version has been retired.

When entering a beer, please enter "Hop Showers" instead of "DDH Hop Showers" or "Hop Showers - DDH".

Keg at CBC Clerko. It pours jet black with a sturdy tan head. The nose is rich, oily, petrol, vanilla, red wine, tannins, dark chocolate, unanimously and jammy berry. The taste is smooth, rich, oily, dark chocolate, vinous, chewy malt, charred wood, umami, light astringency, burnt toast, pepper, quite chewy and earth with a slick, warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth-feel. Rich and unctuous. Nice work. Pretty tasty.

Draught @ Ginger Man. Clear dark brown with reddish tint, large creamy beige head, caramel-citrus aroma, low carbonation, caramel taste mixed with piney hoppy bitterness, smooth mouthfeel, long bitter caramel finish. Great combination of a brown ale and an IPA.

Tap Takeover. Kings Arms. Keg. Hazy paleish gold beer, thin pale cream colour head. Light lemony sourness and something that tastes like a spot of brett. It tastes fine but seems a long way from a Kolsch.

Tap Takeover. Kings Arms. Keg. Hazy gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and mildly crisp. The by now normal Other Half fluffy creamy sweet malts. Light citric peel. Fresh orange and pine. Semi dry finish. Peel bitter linger. Nice beer but lacks some hop punch.
