About
In 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan and Andrew Burman founded Other Half Brewing Company, a local brewery in New York City with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. Their vision was to build a passionate team that brewed great beers in the state of New York—done so with effort and thoughtfulness—to represent the “Other Half” of the industry. Today, Other Half craft beers in their Brooklyn brewery and are dedicated to collaborating with breweries both in New York as well as across the world in an effort to constantly move the industry forward while elevating the craft. The Other Half team believes that local breweries play an important role in their communities which is why they partner with these other likeminded brewers and brands in local nabes across the country and the world—but always return to their home state of New York and their Brooklyn taproom.

PLEASE NOTE: As of 2023, Other Half no longer markets beers as "Double Dry Hopped". Instead, the DDH version is now listed as just the beer name, and the non-DDH version has been retired.

When entering a beer, please enter "Hop Showers" instead of "DDH Hop Showers" or "Hop Showers - DDH".

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours unclear amber-gold with a creamy cap. The nose holds ripe fruits, toffee, some caramelised sugars, lightly toasted dough and hints of vanilla. Medium sweet flavor with notes of ripe berries, sugary bread, brown sugar, more vanilla, some tannins, wood. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation; lightly chewy. Warming finish with more toffee, candied orange rind, toasted sugars, bread, light woody dryness. Novel. Not bad.

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours mostly clear orange with a foamy white head. Nice beer, some doughy malts, nips of smoke, a bit of grain. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Good balance on the finish, mild smokey linger, some further doughy sugars. Nice nuance. Tasty.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy white head. Nice beer, with moderate biscuity pale malts, rindy citrus, some bitter straw. Light bodied with average carbonation. Dry and pithy on the finish, with more citrus and some white bread sweetness. Good balance. Very nice.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours black-brown with a big, frothy tan head. The nose holds moderate roast, milk chocolate, earth, lactose. Medium sweet flavor with decent roast, burnt toast, some earth, torched grass, coffee beans. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and creamy texture. Finishes sweet with some tannic quality, dried fruits, black currants, cocoa, earth, burnt marshmallow. Pretty good. Perhaps a bit too oily. But good overall. (March 2015, score: 3.7)

Keg at The Experiment - Hackney. Fairly sweet but with loads of tasty chocolate. Damn tasty mocha, really. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation and velvety texture. Sweet, creamy chocolate finish. Lovely. (December 2018, score: 4.2)

Keg at the brewery taproom. Pours deep oily black with a light, beige cream head. Richly roasted malts in the nose, dark chocolate, burnt wood and dried fruits. Medium sweet flavor with heavy charred malt character, loads of raisins, scorched earth, figs, prunes. Full bodied, chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish, almost hot, with notes of burnt sugars, charred wood, earth. Good stuff, if a bit dense.
