About
In 2014, Sam Richardson, Matt Monahan and Andrew Burman founded Other Half Brewing Company, a local brewery in New York City with a simple mission: to create beers that they wanted to drink from a company that they wanted to be a part of. Their vision was to build a passionate team that brewed great beers in the state of New York—done so with effort and thoughtfulness—to represent the “Other Half” of the industry. Today, Other Half craft beers in their Brooklyn brewery and are dedicated to collaborating with breweries both in New York as well as across the world in an effort to constantly move the industry forward while elevating the craft. The Other Half team believes that local breweries play an important role in their communities which is why they partner with these other likeminded brewers and brands in local nabes across the country and the world—but always return to their home state of New York and their Brooklyn taproom.

Deep hazy dark orange, tiny off-white head. Apricot jam in the nose. Medium to full-bodied. Very apricot/peach fruity, some alcohol and grapefruit. Nice fruityness with a kick. Good!

Can thanks to Leighton. It pours lightly hazy golden with a thick white head. The nose is fresh, juicy, orange, tangerine, kiwi, white bread and sherbet. The taste is crisp, bitter, fresh, grapefruit, orange rind, white bread, pepper and cracker with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Crisp, refreshing and rather drinkable. Good one.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours deep brown with a creamy khaki head. The nose is light roast, some cooked cereal and light cocoa. Medium sweet flavor with toasted biscuits, dried fruits, light earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. OK balance to finish, some earthy and herbal bitterness, baking cocoa, more dried fruits and toasted cereal grains. Not bad.

The beer pours a light ambery orange color. Medium white head. Fairly cloudy. Some lacing. The aroma is juicy and big on sticky, tropical and resinous hop fruitiness. Lots of melon, peach and pineapple. Some tangerine. A stiff base of grapefruit and pine needles. It’s interesting to find those sweet, light hop flavors layered on top of danker, heavier notes. Sweet malt base. A little booze. Taste has firmer bitterness than expected. The Galaxy peaches and melon are still playing around upfront, but this beer has a pretty good bite. There’s a bit much malt character for my taste, just a little too much sweetness and booze. Solid flavors, though, and despite the bitterness, it doesn’t get bland. Mouthfeel is light for the abv but still a bit sticky. Tasty DIPA. I’m not blown away but it’s solid and has a lot of good flavor.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours golden with white head. Aroma is a bunch of fruits and bubblegum. It is kind of sweet. Some dryness. Plenty of bubblegum. Not a bad beer.

A hazed golden ipa with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with grassy floral and resinous hops, light grapefruit notes, lemon slice, very nice. In mouth, a nice fruity biscuit malt with grassy floral and resinous hops, grapefruit pulp, menthol, very nice and smooth, alcohol warmth in finale. On tap at Winter’s grind February 2015.

On tap . Sourness is not clear in the smell . More light hops, some malts even . In the taste the mild sourness is def there . balanced though, together with the hoppy tones . Very well made blend between 2 taste-aspects I love but usually don’t like combined .
